Downloading SVG Files to Your Computer
When you lodge an SVG from Printable Cuttable Creatables and virtually other sites, you'll meet a download link or button for the design. I highly recommend to right-click on the link / button, and choose "Salvage Link as", "Salvage Linked File equally", or similar selection (the wording will vary depending on the browser you're using.
This will open a navigation window that allows you to specify where you want the file to exist saved on your reckoner. Choose where you lot want the file to go, and click "Salvage". Be sure to choose a location that is easy to detect. I unremarkably save to my Desktop or Downloads folder.
The file will be downloaded to your chosen location.
Unzipping SVG Files
Most SVG designs include several filetypes in improver to SVG format, so the files will normally download as a cipher (compressed) file. Zipped files look similar a folder or file with a attachment on it.Nix files need to exist unzipped (extracted) before you lot tin can view and open up the files inside.
On a Mac, y'all can just double-click the zip file and it will unzip. A regular folder icon will appear side by side to the aught file icon.
On PC, you lot'll need to right-click the naught file, choose "Extract all" and follow the prompts.
In the Extraction Wizard, choose where you want the file to be saved on your reckoner. By default, information technology should unzip in the same location as the original zip file. Click "Excerpt".
The file will unzip, and a regular binder file will appear side by side to the zip file.
After unzipping, you can movement the regular binder to a dissimilar location on your estimator; for example a folder specifically for cutting files. Y'all don't need the nothing file anymore, and then yous can simply delete information technology.
That'southward it! At present when you open the blueprint binder, you'll see all the unlike filetypes included with the SVG, such equally DXF, PNG, and JPEG. The designer may likewise include instructions, licensing, and contact info (oft in PDF or .txt format).
There's No SVG File in my Download!
Some computers may display SVG file thumbnails as web browser icons (Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc), notwithstanding they are actually SVG files and should yet upload correctly in your cut software.
You can check the file extension for ".svg". You can also check the File Type or File Properties and they should testify as "SVG Document" or "Scalable Vector Graphic".
Now y'all tin head to your cut software to upload the SVG files!
Note that double-clicking will not work to open up SVG files unless yousspecify which programme y'all want your figurer to acquaintance SVGs with.

Thank you for the information regarding SVG files! Nonetheless, I am getting message that says I am trying to download unsupported file. Could you please help or direct me to a tutorial that will guide me through the steps for selecting, downloading, opening or whatever I am doing incorrect 🙁

Hello Linda, if you have the basic (standard) edition of Silhouette Studio, then that is likely why yous are seeing this message. The Designer Edition upgrade (or college) is needed to open up SVG files. If you accept the bones edition, you can notwithstanding open DXF files (preferred) or PNG files (which demand to be traced). I do highly recommend the one-time paid upgrade to Designer Edition, since information technology is MUCH easier to work with SVGs – non to mention all the other features included in DE! 🙂

Hi Kristin,

Hi Calvina,
If you're purchasing cut files from the Silhouette Design Store to use with your Silhouette Cameo, and then you lot don't "demand" to buy the SVG, since the ".studio" version will work with your Cameo. The studio format of the pattern should appear in your Library
If you've already purchased SVG files from the Silhouette Pattern Store, they won't exist automatically added to your Studio library, so you'll need to download them to your computer. Log into your Silhouette Blueprint Store account. Click "My Download History", click on the order number, so check the "Download SVG" box, and click the "Download Checked" button.
Once the SVG has been saved to your figurer, you tin import it to your Studio library as shown in this step past step tutorial: How to Open SVG Files in Silhouette Studio, This tutorial also shows how to become the file to cut.
I hope this answers your question, but if you lot still take any questions, feel free to reach out!

howdy,
I was able to extract all files simply when I go to open the SVG (or any of the documents from the link) my silhouette says "the file type yous are attempting to access is not supported."
Reply
Hullo Amanda, That message usually appears if you lot are using the Basic Edition of Silhouette Studio. You would demand the Designer Edition (or higher) to open SVG files in Studio. I do VERY highly recommend the Designer Edition upgrade, equally the ability to work with SVG files, along with the features information technology includes are well worth the toll! It is a one-fourth dimension paid upgrade, and the instant upgrade code is usually only $25-$30.
If you decide not to upgrade at this time, my newer designs include DXF files which will work with the Bones Edition of Studio. If you accept one of my older designs without a DXF, please let me know and I'll transport one to you.
