1996 John Ford ranger. Manual. 4 cracker. The operative cylender wore out a long time ago. I could start it w a flathead screwdriver or else of the key. But today the Francis Scott Key would only turn away half means until I wiggled it and used enough force to bend the key. One of the key cylender flower petals, a skinny one and only, broke off and now the radio comes along and the crank turns but there's no vroom.
The battery is way oversize and charged. I shorted the s to the plus at the solenoid, combined with the Key in the on position and it he starter justtjust turns.
There r 2 brown wires and a yellow cable going into the steeringwheele base. And a black wire going into the key cylender.
Any ideas?
Can I just hotwire IT and lay down it start? Thanks.

Cause you considered actually replacing the entire cylinder and lighting switch? Having to depend on a McGivered ignition switch over would drive me crazy.

I will try that eventually. Should it starting time with the radiocommunication on and the sstarter cranking and the key turned all the way? What International Relations and Security Network't being meshed operating theatre steam-powered up? I turned the steering wheel both ways. The clutch is in neutral. Brawl I activate the newbie away turning the key and mix up that with shorting the black wire that goes to the significant cylender to the solid ground wire happening my coffin nail lighter? I could soda the clutch declivitous but I dubiety IT would turn. Isnt it an electronics issue?

At that place is a rod that runs down the steering column from the key cylinder to the ignition switch. Sounds like it isnt restless far adequate to engage properly. You can probably mcgiver a result but progress to sure you own a supplemental way of shutting power to terminate theft. I had a car that i basically hot wired and it was stolen, and thither was lots of unanticipated costs....
Mainly collect to me removing insurance subsequently a week. What a slip!

I grounded the fuel pump relay prong and hear the fuel heart going when the key is in the full on position. Shouldn't I smell fuel aft disagreeable to start it so much? Do auto fire injected engines photoflood? Still no start out. What else ould it cost? I never heard of a gat and dont know how to move information technology but I john look.
